Rx Shelving & Cabinet Formats
The right drug shelving format depends on the inventory and the operator’s handling process. Adjustable shelves can accommodate different packages only within the limits of the selected support system. Closed cabinets change access and visibility, while open bays expose labels directly. Neither format automatically meets requirements for regulated medicines. Identify any specialist cabinets or environmental equipment as separate items, and have their suitability confirmed by the responsible professionals. The retail furniture schedule should not substitute for the pharmacy’s storage procedures.

Pharmacy Shelving Layout Details
Before selecting pharmacy shelving, map staff movement and the space needed to retrieve stock without blocking another workstation. Include readable labels and verify that label racks fit the chosen shelf edges. Tall units require an access and fixing plan; extra height is not useful if normal tasks become awkward. Confirm the dimensions of walls and obstructions on site. Where modules may be reconfigured later, document the compatible parts and limits so that changes are not made on assumptions.
Shelving Materials & Surface Care
Compare material options using samples and the actual care instructions. Coated steel and laminated panels offer different edge, joint and finish details; the appropriate choice depends on the use and installation. Request load information for the specified shelf span and supports. Do not infer antimicrobial performance, food-contact suitability or environmental certification from the material name alone. Any special surface requirement should be stated in the brief and supported by relevant documentation before approval.

Share your bay quantities, package dimensions and draft floor plan with Benson Display. Note the required access arrangement and any existing furniture that the new units must meet. We can discuss a shelving scope with dimensions, finishes and hardware defined for your pharmacy space. The pharmacy operator and qualified advisers should independently confirm storage and regulatory requirements before the furniture specification is finalized.
