Nestled within the Taj Skyline in Ahmedabad, NUEVA is a 375 sq. ft. boutique that redefines the fabric retail experience. This intimate space artfully weaves together India’s rich craft heritage with a modern, minimalist design, creating a serene and expansive-feeling oasis.
Design Philosophy: Softening a Small Footprint
The core design mission was to overcome spatial constraints through soothing aesthetics. The approach focused on subduing the compact area with a soft color palette, arches, and curved edges. This philosophy creates a gentle, flowing ambiance that avoids any sense of clutter or confinement.
Material Palette: Rustic & Refined

The store’s character is built on a foundation of natural, tactile materials. An exposed-concrete ceiling meets smooth lime-plaster walls and flooring, establishing a rustic yet refined texture. This neutral backdrop is enriched with warm wood, brass accents, and metalwork, allowing the vibrant textiles to take center stage.
Spatial Strategy: Creating an Illusion of Space
Clever design interventions make the boutique feel open and airy. A full-length mirror wall, detailed with arched latticework, visually doubles the room and reflects light. Minimalist furniture ensures clear circulation, while open metal shelving and custom display units maximize functionality without encroaching on the floor space.
Curated Displays: Intelligent & Artistic
Every display is a blend of smart storage and visual storytelling. Light-toned, arched units are custom-fitted with specific hole-cuts for dupattas and shelves for fabric bolts, seamlessly organizing stock into the design. Hand murals and creative wall hangings display accessories attractively, ensuring every inch contributes to the aesthetic narrative.
Furniture & Fixtures: Heritage Reimagined
Key furniture pieces are unique conversation starters. A central table crafted from a repurposed heritage wooden door, topped with glass, is paired with carved wooden chairs. The on-site-built reception desk, featuring textile stamps against a silvery-gold wall, underscores the bespoke, artisanal heart of the brand.
Lighting & Atmosphere: Highlighting Craft
Lighting is layered to enhance texture and focus. Track lights in the ceiling provide general illumination, while diffused lights hidden within the arched display niches cast a warm glow on the fabrics and walls. This strategic lighting adds depth and drama, elevating the entire sensory experience.
Conclusion: A Cohesive Sanctuary
From its material consistency to the recurring arch motif, a subtle and continuous design language unifies NUEVA. This boutique proves that through intentional design, a small space can become a profound sanctuary—one that honors tradition, celebrates craft, and offers a uniquely modern retail experience.
