When metal and wood are combined, when privacy and relaxation are in the same space. The space designed by Benson Display for this luxurious hookah store has long transcended the boundaries of the store. Become a sensory container in the urban nightlife. From hanging wooden installations to wraparound sofas. Every detail tells us: The high-end feel of a leisure space is never the accumulation of expensive materials, but the precise implementation of the experience logic.
Layout
First of all, the first second you step into the space, you won’t feel that it’s a store. There is no straightforward counter at the entrance. Instead, a light and shadow dome is formed by hanging wooden strips. The warm light from the top diffused through the gaps in the wood. It not only blurs the hard boundaries of the ceiling but also turns the entry route into a transition from a bright urban area to a soft and secluded realm.
Secondly, the core leisure area adopts an arc-shaped enclosure layout. The dark brown sofas are connected in curves. It retains the privacy of each group of seats without making the space seem fragmented. The small round table in the central area serves as a mobile social node. When sitting alone, it serves as a dedicated countertop, and when multiple people gather, it can be naturally joined together.
Finally, the most ingenious part is the connection between the bar counter and the leisure area. The bar counter does not adopt the traditional partitioned design. Instead, semi-transparent wooden corrugated panels are used for the facade. It not only ensures the privacy of the bar counter’s operation but also allows the lighting and fragrance of the bar counter area to naturally permeate the leisure area. Let placing an order become a natural action that occurs in a relaxed state.
Decoration
This design only uses three core materials to support the framework of the space.
Wood: The hanging wooden strips of the warm ceiling are made of black walnut. The length gradient design gives the top a dynamic sense of undulating waves. With the warm light, it’s as if the forest light and shadow of the city have been brought into the room. The corrugated wood veneer on the bar counter is a combination of wood veneer and carving techniques. It can not only soften the monotony of the bar counter but also create a flowing effect under the lighting.
Metal: The metal legs of the sofa are made of black stainless steel. There are no superfluous decorations. The metal part of the hookah is made of brass with a blackened plating process. It contrasts with wood and leather materials.
Leather: The sofa is made of high-quality leather. The leather is wrapped in high-density sponge. It feels very soft but won’t collapse. The curvature of the backrest conforms to that of the spine. As soon as they sit down, it will make customers feel very relaxed.
Furniture
The majority of luxury spaces offer furniture that is visually appealing but functionally difficult to use; however, Functionality is always at the forefront of our designs. Examples of this can be seen below:
Sofa: Has a dual-purpose use; It will work for both sitting with friends or chatting, but also semi-lying down and relaxing. The backrest is at an inclined 110 degrees. We recommend you use throw pillows made from the same fabric for maximum comfort and support when using the sofa for extended periods of time.
Table & Chairs: The 55cm, high round, topped with rock slabs, is the same height as the armrest of the sofa. The rock slab top is warmer than glass and much more durable than a wooden table top.
Bar Stool: Has more detailed design features; It stands 90cm tall, and the seat cushion is made from memory foam. The triangular support of the tripod base provides stability while occupying the least amount of space; A full bar does not create the appearance of being crowded.
