Plan an Electronic Shelf Label System
Treat digital price tags as part of an operating process, not just a replacement for paper. Define which system owns the price, who can approve changes and how staff will identify a tag assigned to the wrong product. Screen size, character layout and viewing conditions matter as much as the appearance of the tag housing.
Integration depends on the selected platform, gateways and retail software. Request a demonstration using your intended data flow, including failed updates and offline behavior. Do not assume Bluetooth connectivity, inventory alerts or compatibility with an existing point-of-sale system unless the proposed supplier confirms those functions.
Prepare Your Digital Price Tag Requirements
Prepare a list of label quantities and sizes, shelf-edge profiles, store areas and the information to be displayed. Identify refrigerated locations separately, and include how new products or relocated stock will be assigned to tags.
Confirm mounting compatibility, batteries or power arrangements, licensing, support and replacement procedures with the relevant suppliers. Battery life and update timing depend on the selected hardware and operating conditions. Agree a pilot and acceptance checks before a full rollout; neither automatic updates nor digital displays remove the need to verify shelf information.
